This methodology can assemble a guild of plants with up to eight specific ecological functions: a Cash crop for primary income, Cover crops for weed suppression, Fixers to provide nitrogen, Support plants for shade and structure, Miners to improve soil, and Repellent, Attractor, and Trap crops for integrated pest management.
Specialization: The PIMA Method
For medicinal herb production, we apply our specialized process, PIMA (Physiologically-Informed Medicinal Agroforestry). This method designs the multi-layered canopy to create precise light and biochemical environments, informed by an understanding of thylakoid physiology and metabolomics, to trigger the maximum production of potent secondary metabolites. Here we depict a typical ecosystem designed based on local conditions, including pH levels, and the desired cashcrop. Our AI visualises the plant guild for you.
